The Films of John M. Boardman

Untitled Document

Rare Film Footage
Classic New England Railroading, 1950-1982

Equipped with his 16 mm. movie camera, John M. Boardman chronicled a wide range of New England railroading -- mostly on the old Boston & Maine -- as it was during the 1950s, '60s and '70s. His color motion pictures allow us to peer through a time tunnel. At the other end is a bygone, quaint time when steam trains, local freights and self-propelled Budd Rail Diesel Cars were commonplace.

John Boardman traveled throughout Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire to record images of both the dramatic and the ordinary on the railroad, often against a backdrop of spectacular natural beauty.

These films were professionally transferred to Digital Betacam videotape and edited in the digital realm to provide excellent image quality.
